Each year the Sooke Fire Rescue Service, the East Sooke Fire Department and the Otter Point Fire Department gather their forces to make a run through the area collecting food for the food bank. The year the run takes place on Saturday, December 14. The bags have all of the routes printed on them. The fire trucks will be decorated so there is no mistaking what their purpose is. The bags detail all of the routes.
From Sooke the trucks will begin at 4:30 p.m.; the Otter Point Volunteer Fire Department’s Candy Cane Run begins at 5 p.m. as does East Sooke’s Santa Run. Sooke Fire Rescue Service will be tracking the progress of each of the four fire trucks on the Annual “Santa Run” through the Sooke Fire Rescue Service Facebook page and on Twitter using the hashtag #SookeSanta
The Otter Point Volunteer Fire Department is also sponsoring the annual Polar Bear Swim at Whiffin Spit on January 1. Registration begins at 11:30 p.m. and the cannon start is at 12 noon.
