The fourth annual Haida Gwaii Film Festival is all set to go, and you’re invited. It all starts Friday at 6 pm, with the opening gala at the small hall in Skidegate, and continues there until Sunday evening.Dafne Romero is the festival’s organizer and driving force. She says this year there’s a film from Haida Gwaii ‘The Yota Story’, about a young Japanese boy who dreams of visiting Gwaii Hanaas, and there also will be some archive footage from the Lyell Island blockade that has never been seen before, thanks to Roy Jones Jr.As well, there’s a film called ‘Water Stories’ made by Mary Anne Jones from Skidegate, about the fragility of the waters and the implications of what a pipeline could bring. There are 36 films in all to be shown, some short, some medium, some feature length.”Everything is going to be so smooth and nice, everyone is going to love all the movies, we have quite a variety of films,” Ms Romero said.
