It cost a little bit more to repair Enderby’s water treatment plant.
While $35,000 had been budgeted for a leaky filter, the final bill for the emergency situation was $37,425.
“The leak had to be repaired before further deterioration compromised the city’s filtration treatment barrier, which is critical for supplying potable water that meets Canadian drinking water guidelines and provincial requirements,” said Tate Bengtson, chief administrative officer, in a report.
The repairs were done in September and October.
“It should be good for another 20 years,” said Mayor Greg McCune of the treatment facility.
New deputy fire chief
Some administrative changes have occurred within the Enderby Fire Department.
City council has appointed Cliff Vetter as the community’s deputy fire chief.
“Cliff has been fighting fires for 21 years,” said Kevin Alstad, fire chief.
Vetter takes over from Shane Williamson, who continues as a firefighter.
