The Agassiz RCMP and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32 have joined forces to help an Agassiz woman in need of a new heart. Finding Callie Her Perfect Heart is a fundraiser dinner in support of the effort to find a perfect match for Callie.

Callie, is a 24-year-old woman from Agassiz, B.C, who has suffered heart problems since she was born, resulting in multiple surgeries to repair her heart. When Callie turned 19 in 2016, she was officially diagnosed with heart failure. Callie requires a new heart to survive and not just any heart, as she can only accept a heart from three per cent of the population due to built up antibodies from blood transfusions.

Callie’s transplant team at St. Pauls Hospital has asked that Callie and her family move to Toronto to better the chance of finding her the “perfect heart.”

The fundraiser features Mounties who will be serving dinner in full red serge. A delicious meal will be provided by Lori’s Catering, and there will be a 50/50 raffle draw, a silent auction, and a lottery ticket wreath for guests.

Tickets are $30 a piece and are available at the Agassiz RCMP Detachment or the Agassiz Royal Legion. The event will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Agassiz on Saturday, May 13.

Callie also has a GoFundme page that people can access to make donations if they can’t attend the fundraiser. It was started by a friend in the hopes of raising enough funds to provide financial support for travel costs to Toronto, living expenses, and any unexpected costs that will arise.

British Columbians have shown their support for Callie and her family during this difficult time, raising more than $2,300 in one day to go toward the cause. To support Callie and her family, here’s a link to the GoFundMe campaign: https://www.gofundme.com/allies-perfect-heart.
