Just in time for Labour Day Weekend campers, the campfire ban in the Kamloops Fire Centre has been lifted.
The ban was removed at noon on Monday.
It was rescinded due to recent widespread precipitation, which resulted in a decreased risk of wildfires in the region. The fire danger rating is now primarily “low” to “moderate” throughout the fire centre.
The campfire ban was enacted on July 3, two weeks earlier than last’s year’s prohibition, which went into effect on July 16.
Last year, the campfire ban was lifted on Aug. 21.
