The fire ban in Mt. Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks was lifted Friday.
“Recent rain and cooler temperatures have reduced the fire danger in these parks,” said a news release from Parks Canada.
However, fire crews continue to monitor three wildfires in the parks, Clachnacudainn East in Mt. Revelstoke and 30-Mile and Mountain Creek in Glacier.
At the moment the Clachnacudainn fire is approximately 375 hectares, the 30-Mile fire is approximately 3,800 hectares and the Mountain Creek fire is approximately 200 hectares.
The wildfires do not currently pose a threat to people or assets but Silvertip Canyon climbing area and trail in Mt. Revelstoke have been closed as well as the Beaver Valley area and trails in Glacier.
Last week fire crews successfully managed the Clachnacudainn East wildfire as it neared the Trans-Canada Highway. The only impacts were a temporary reduced speed zone for the safety of crews working in the area.
The fire ban is still in place for the City Revelstoke and the surrounding area. For more information on fire bans go to www.bcfireinfo.for.gov.bc.ca/hprScripts/WildfireNews/Bans.asp
