Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on Topping Street late Tuesday morning after receiving a report of flames coming from the rear of the home. The fire originated and was contained to the washing machine, according to regional fire chief Terry Martin. “There was no fire or smoke damage to the rest of the house, but the washing machine will need to be replaced,” he concluded. “There was a family at home at the time of the incident, and none of them were injured.”
