Kelowna firefighters responded to a report of fire at the Kelowna General Hospital, 5 p.m. Monday.
Ladder 1, Engine 4, Car 3 an Safety 1 responded to the first call-out.
Upon arrival firefighters saw heavy smoke at the back of 2668 Pandosy St. on the Abbott Street side of the building.
A second fire engine responded as the investigation proceeded.
Fire was confirmed at the back end of the building near Strathcona Park.
Power was turned off to the building while firefighters set up their command.
The fire was reported to be contained to one small room. Everyone in the area was evacuated to a safe part of the building as Rose Avenue at Pandosy was blocked to traffic to help with access.
By 5:45 p.m. Monday firefighters were heading back to their stations with only reports remaining to be filed.
