A fire in a workshop on Lower Elk Valley Road near Sparwood was successfully extinguished Tuesday morning thanks to the efforts of both Sparwood and Elkford Fire Departments.
The shed was located on the property close to both a home (60 ft) and another small barn (30 ft). Crews were able to contain the fire and the other two structures were unscathed.
The shed had inside it a section full of storage as well as a wood pile.
After the call came in at approximately 6:02 a.m. Tuesday morning, August 27. the Sparwood Fire Department called upon Elkford Fire Department for support as they felt they might need extra water.
In total, 17 firefighters were on scene, with three pieces of apparatus from Sparwood, one tender from Elkford as well as three support units from Sparwood.
It took approximately two hours to contain the fire.
There were no injuries.
