Emergency crews, including police, fire and ambulance were called to the scene of a garage fire in the 900-block of Kilwinning Street late Saturday night.

Capt. Blaine Dionne of Penticton Fire Rescue said Sunday, smoke and flames were visible from all four sides of the structure in what is believe to be living quarters above the garage.

“The damage appears to be extensive because it burned a hole in the floor and at this stage it is still under investigation,” said Dionne. “No one was inside at the time.”

According to the officer the call came in just after 11 p.m. and several trucks with about 20 firefighters in total responded.

They were on scene until about 2:30 a.m. Sunday and the building was still behind security tape later that morning.
