A home in the Mountain View Trailer Park was destroyed by fire on Monday.
Around noon the Smithers Fire Department sent 19 firefighters to the trailer at 95 Laidlaw Road.
“We were there within ten minutes of receiving the call,” said Fire Chief Keith Stecko. “The trailer that was on fire was a complete loss and there was damage to the siding of one of the trailers that was adjacent it and the home on the other side suffered some smoke and fire damage to one of the rooms.”
The Smithers RCMP also attended to keep the peace and ensure onlookers stayed a safe distance back.
Everybody including the pets made it out safely. There were no injuries sustained as a result of the fire.
Firefighters were called back out later that evening when smoke starting showing up at the site. Stecko said the crew dealt with it quickly.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this point.
