The Port Edward Volunteer Fire Department was called to a trailer fire shortly before midnight on Nov. 15, a fire that completely engulfed the building. Fire chief Shawn Pettitt said seven firefighters spent several hours battling the blaze, which also destroyed two vehicles. Everyone inside the home was able to escape without injury, but the trailer was a write-off. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but Pettitt said it is not being treated as suspicious.
