A fire started in a travel trailer and threatened to consume three buildings on a property in rural Maple Ridge on Tuesday night.
The fire call came in at 11:21 p.m. on Aug. 21 from the 12200-block of 256th Street, just north of Websters Corners, after a resident watering the garden noticed the fire. It started in a recreational vehicle, and before it was extinguished, the blaze had spread to two outbuildings on the property that were being used as shops/storage, according to Maple Ridge Fire Chief Howard Exner.
The trailer was reduced to melted metal, one outbuilding was a total loss, and the other was damaged. The fire did not spread to the residence on the property, and Exner said fire crews also extinguished several small brush fires that resulted.
“It was extensive, and a pretty difficult fire to access,” he said.
He said the cause of the fire could not be determined because the damage to the trailer was so complete.
