Penticton Fire Rescue crews responded to a mobile home fire Saturday evening on Valleyview Road.

Flames could be seen shooting high up into the night sky as fire ripped through a mobile home at 3316 Valleyview Road Saturday evening.

According to Capt. Blaine Dionne of Penticton Fire Rescue there was nobody inside the residence when firefighters arrived however they did find four people at the bottom of the driveway. The call came in just after 7 p.m.

“Two pumper trucks responded with the tender unit (carrying water), we do have a lack of water up there so that’s why the tender went,” said Dionne.

Initially six firefighters from both halls responded however an additional 24 men were dispatched to the scene because of the severity of the fire.

Firefighters were called back to the scene just after 1 a.m. to extinguish some hot spots and remained there for several hours. Because the home was not structurally sound members were unable to go inside.

The investigation is ongoing.
