The Fort St. James Fire Dept. continues to do their best in keeping the community safe with increased membership and continued training.
Currently there are 35 members, with four new members who recently joined in September.
Fire Chief, Michael Navratil is thrilled to have new members join his team.
“For new members in the community, this is a great way to meet people as well as become a valuable member of the community in helping when the need arises,” Navratil said.
“For many it is the experience and training that we provide. Once you join throughout the year, there will be opportunities to receive certified training in various areas including: First Aid/CPR, Air Brakes, Hazmat Awareness, Ice Rescue, Vehicle Rescue, and of course, Live Fire Training.”
Navratil looks forward to the future of the Department.
“We will continue to focus on training and development of members,” Navratil said.
“Through in-house training and bringing outside courses in, members will continue to increase their abilities and skills. Training ensures that not only are we able to respond and deal with the variety of calls we receive, but more importantly, it ensures we are able to do so safely.”
