Armstrong-Spallumcheen firefighters were faced with a major emergency Friday night.
Crews were called to the 1200 block of Otter Lake Cross Road in Spallumcheen at about 7:23 p.m.
“The initial structure was gone before we got there,” said Ian Cummings, Armstrong-Spallumcheen fire chief.
The blaze also consumed a detached shop and caused some damage to an adjacent home.
“It was something with the heat,” said Cummings.
No one was injured during the incident and it’s not known if the owners of the main home had insurance.
The cause of the fire has not been determined but it is not considered suspicious.
