Due to the wildfire in Peachland, Central Okanagan School District officials have announced Peachland Elementary School will be closed Monday and until further notice.

Late Sunday, the district released the following announcement:

At 8:25 p.m. (Sunday), school district officials were informed by the Emergency Operations Centre that due to continued wildfire activity from the Trepanier Forest Fire, an evacuation order has been expanded to include Clements Crescent which is the street access to Peachland Elementary School. The emergency operations centre has indicated that Peachland Elementary School is to remain closed until further notice. As such, we are requesting that parents make alternate arrangements for their children who normally attend Peachland Elementary School for Monday, September 10th, 2012. Parents are advised to monitor their local media and the School District website (www.sd23.bc.ca) for updates. If the evacuation order remains in effect for an extended period of time, an alternate location will be established for students and teachers to report to.

Staff who normally report to Peachland Elementary School are being asked to report to either Mount Boucherie Secondary School or to the Hollywood Road Education Services facility for Monday, Sept. 10. If neither of these locations is practical, and an alternate worksite location is required by staff members, they may contact their supervisor directly to make the necessary arrangements.
