Nanaimo firefighters were called upon to perform a rope rescue after a man slipped down a bank and into the Millstone River on the weekend.
Firefighters responded at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday to Barsby Park where a man had slipped down a steep bank under the pedestrian bridge and was unable to climb back up the bank.
“Our crews used rope rescue procedures to access him and bring him up to an ambulance where he received treatment,” Craig Richardson, Nanaimo Fire Rescue chief, said in an e-mail.
