Firefighters rescue motorist

Collision takes place on Haney Bypass Tuesday morning. Victim was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Extrication tools were used to remove a man from his car after a crash Tuesday on the Haney Bypass at 225th Street. He was airlifted to hospital. A second driver was also taken to hospital. Police are still investigating.

Two people were taken to hospital following a crash that shut down the Haney Bypass in Maple Ridge Tuesday.

The collision took place around noon near 225th Street. One car landed in a ditch. Firefigthers used the jaws of life to extricate the driver from the crumpled wreak. He was airlifted to hospital.

A street light post toppled over after one of the vehicles hit it.

RCMP said injuries sustained by the occupants of the cars were non-life threatening.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police have yet to determine whether a motorcycle was involved.
