Firefighters quickly extinguished a grass fire along Farmer Road in Abbotsford Tuesday afternoon.
The blaze, which was reported just after 3 p.m., burned a 80-foot stretch of roadside grass and singed a telephone pole, before firefighters arrived on the scene and quickly doused it.
Temperatures reached at 31.8 C by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, a half-degree short of the all-time record for the day set 50 years ago. The region’s fire danger rating is moderate to high across the Lower Mainland.
