First Nations art stolen from Chinatown business in Victoria

Victoria police have strong person of interest in Aug. 16 theft

The Victoria Police Department is asking for public help in locating a First Nations piece of fine art stolen from a business in the 500-block of Fisgard Street last month.

VicPD are issuing a public appeal in the Aug. 16 theft in a bid for further information on a person of interest.

The suspect allegedly picked up the $1,600 mask and simply walked out of the store, said VicPD Const. Mike Russell.

“Although (officers) have a strong suspect in the case, the mask remains at large,” Russell said.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the mask is asked to call VicPD at 250-995-7654 or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS (8477).
