Five arrested after Vanderhoof standoff

At 3:30 a.m. on June 19, Vanderhoof’s RCMP responded to a weapons complaint on Church Avenue near Victoria Street.

Five people were arrested after an overnight standoff this weekend.

At 3:30 a.m. on June 19, Vanderhoof’s RCMP responded to a weapons complaint on Church Avenue near Victoria Street, blocking off the residential block in an effort to ensure public safety, Cpl. Wade Harvey said.

The situation was eventually resolved peacefully, as the police remained on the perimeter for five hours. A search warrant was later executed on the property, where evidence was gathered to further the criminal case. Investigation continues.
