A crew spreads asphalt on Thursday of last week over the site of a sinkhole that developed in the parking lot at Brookfield Mall. The sinkhole collapsed without warning on Tuesday afternoon, June 3.
It was deeper than it first appeared and took three truckloads of sand and gravel to fill.
Cause appeared to be a cinder block wall on one side of an underground valve room (located under the concrete slab the man second from left is standing on) falling in. No one was injured and no vehicle was damaged in the incident.
