The 2016 Terrace Riverboat Days annual parade saw spectators, judges and entrants in a festive mood today under a light cloud cover and cool temperatures.

From the first official floats featuring parade sponsor Branch 13 of the Royal Canadian Legion and local dignitaries, to the final parade entrants of local emergency services vehicles, spectators were treated to approximately one hour of colour and sound.

The winner in the commercial category was LNG Canada followed by the Terrace Aquatic Centre and UNBC. In the non-commercial category the winner was the Nisga’a Lisims Government and Fisheries followed by Geena from the Skeena and the Kitselas First Nation.

The dance category was won by the Terrace Fil-Can Association. The bands category was won by the Majagaleehl Nisga’a Concert/Marching Band from the Nass Valley followed by the Terrace Pipes and Drums Society.

The best overall float in the parade was awarded to Suwilaawks Community School.

The parade began at the city hall end of Lakelse Ave. and finished at the Legion where judges announced their decisions.
