The Clearwater and District Food Bank has been managing to do well, thanks to its volunteers and donations from the area’s citizens, according to the organization’s chair, Harry James.
“The food bank has been able to meet the needs of its clients,” James said.
“Maintaining the social spacing and keeping the bank clean and sterile has been a challenge but with appropriate protocol, the diligence of the volunteers, and the cooperation of the clients of the food bank it has been achieved with minimum upset.”
James added on behalf of the board of directors of the food bank he’d like to commend and applaud the dedicated volunteers who’ve stepped up in this time of turmoil to continue providing nutritious hampers for those in need.
Those who work at the food bank have come up with, and followed, some exemplary health and safety practices to ensure the protection of themselves and the clients they serve as they receive goods, stock the shelves prepare hampers and distribute to the clients, all while keeping the workspace clean and disinfected according to protocol.
“Kudos to these wonderful volunteers,” James said. “They share in being heroes in our community.”
The Clearwater and District Food Bank would also like to acknowledge the generous donations that citizens, businesses, and organizations have made during these trying times in April and May.
The organization said it wants to give thanks to all the people who’ve contributed graciously to help those in need and acknowledgments also went out to the generous donation of $7,000 raised by Crusin’ Clearwater during its recent mobile car show event, which drew more than 100 participants earlier this month.
“Our thanks to them and to all who contributed to this donation. Clearwater and district citizens are terrific and generous.”
