Food hamper applications still available

There’s still time to sign up for a Christmas food hamper in Vernon and Enderby

There’s still time to sign up for a Christmas food hamper in Vernon and Endebry.

The Salvation Army is accepting applications for hampers until Friday.

“We don’t want to miss anyone,” said David MacBain, the Salvaton Army’s community ministries director.

Vernon Christmas hamper applications are available at the food bank, both Salvation Army thrift stores and the Talkin Donkey coffee house.

A total of 400 interviews have been done so far at the Vernon food bank.

“In three weeks, we have done half of what we expect,” said MacBain.

In 2012, Christmas hampers were provided to 864 households in Vernon.

Enderby interviews for Christmas food hampers and gifts will be Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church.

Applications for Enderby residents are available at Twice But Nice, Canada Post and St. Andrew’s United Church.

“We hope people will come in sooner than later to avoid the rush. There is always a line at the end,” said MacBain.
