Former councillor Katie Robinson is running in this fall’s municipal election, hoping to again take a seat on Penticton city council.
Robinson, a business owner and financial planner, held a seat on city council for over 10 years, as well as serving on the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen and Health District (OSRHD) for six years.
In her announcement, Robinson said being responsible for how taxes are spent has been and continues to be her first priority.
“Money-losing projects will end, as we focus on capitalizing on our existing assets. Council must get back to the basics of sound infrastructure, water, sewage and waste management. They may not be glamorous but they are essential to a healthy community,” she wrote.
Protective Services is also a key priority, she said, to ensure safety and welfare.
“We need enforceable bylaws, serious attention and creative solutions to issues that appear to be spiralling out of control,” she wrote.
Robinson also has a long-term vision for Penticton to establish it as the Canadian centre for wine, food and the arts.
