RCMP Inspector Jayson Lucash transferred out from his position as the commanding officer of the Terrace detachment last month to be one of the senior officers at the force’s Ridge Meadows detachment.
It’s where he started his career 25 years ago after completing his initial police training in 1996.
Lucash arrived in Terrace in Nov. 2018 after a stint of running the RCMP’s northern highway patrol section in Prince George.
He’s worked in general duties and with traffic services, was a watch commander as a corporal in Penticton and was the sergeant in command of the Lake Country RCMP detachment just north of Kelowna.
He was working in Kelowna when he received his commission in April 2017 whereupon he took up his traffic services duties for the north.
At the Ridge Meadows detachment, which covers Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, Lucash is one of three officers on the senior leadership team. One of the officers is also an inspector while the third is the superintendent in charge of the overall detachment.
The RCMP has started looking for a replacement, a process that does involve having the City of Terrace interview candidates.
The Terrace detachment is the largest in the area, consisting not only of general duty officers covering Terrace and Thornhill but specialist investigators, identification specialists and a highway patrol section.
