Former trustee and newcomer elected as Lumby’s school board representatives

A former trustee and a newcomer have been elected to represent Lumby's two trustee seats with the Vernon School District board.

A former trustee and a newcomer have been elected to represent Lumby’s two trustee seats with the Vernon School District board.

Mitzi Fortin and Doris Squair were elected in Saturday’s municipal election vote.

Fortin, the former trustee, topped the polls with 582 votes while Squair garnered 373 votes, 42 more than incumbent Paula Harned.

Fortin and Squair join Vernon representatives Kelly Smith, Tami Ryder, John Armstrong and Mollie Bono on the board, along with Coldstream’s Bill Turanski, who retained his seat by acclamation.
