Fraser Lake RCMP, Vanderhoof Traffic Services, in conjunction with the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on the Nautley Reserve, just west of Fort Fraser BC.
On Aug. 28 at 12:57 a.m. Fraser Lake RCMP and Vanderhoof Traffic Services responded to a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 37-year-old Fort Fraser man.
Fraser Lake RCMP received a report of an impaired driver on the Nautley Reserve and a description of the pickup truck was provided to the police. While the police were responding to this call, they received a report of a motor vehicle crash, involving the same truck. It happened at the Nautley River Bridge.
Upon arrival, police observed that the truck had gone off the bridge into the Nautley River and came to rest on its roof. Despite the efforts of the emergency personnel, all attempts to get the driver out of the vehicle were unsuccessful.
The driver was the lone occupant in the pickup truck. The investigation is ongoing, however alcohol and speed are being considered as causal factors in this fatal crash.
The RCMP will assist the BC Coroners Office as they continue their investigation into this matter. Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to call the Fraser Lake RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
