With the largest amount of funds distributed throughout the Comox Valley community to date, 20 local organization are able to grow and offer more to their members thanks to the Comox Valley Community Foundation.
Thursday at the Comox Valley Recreation Centre, CVCF awarded more than $118,000 in grants to various groups during their annual community enrichment awards ceremony.
“(The money) is literally going to make this a better community,” said Norm Carruthers, president and MC for the ceremony.
The foundation, established in 1996, administers 75 funds and has endowments of more than $5 million.
Eligible applicants must be registered charities or qualified donees and must demonstrate fiscal responsibility and effective management.
The foundation considers applications in five fields: arts and culture; environment; seniors; health and welfare and education and youth.
