On Saturday March 28, police executed a search warrant in Fernie and seized PCP, Cocaine, Marijuana, Ecstasy, Hash, Magic Mushrooms and cash. Four persons were arrested when police entered the residence; two face charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. Charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance are being considered for the other two.

Investigators from the Cranbrook/Kimberley Crime Reduction Unit had obtained information about the individuals and worked closely with the Elk Valley Detachment to obtain a search warrant. Inside the house on 4th Ave in Fernie police found; Cocaine (1 oz), Phencyclidine (PCP, 1 oz.), Hash (1 oz.), Magic Mushrooms (1 lb.), Marijuana (1 lb.), over $8000 cash and Ecstasy along with evidence related to drug trafficking.

A male and female were released for court at a later date with conditions not to possess a cell phone, report to a bail supervisor and no firearms.

The combined effort between the detachments resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of a significant amount of drugs. Those involved in the drug trade operate everywhere and police often find connections to other towns or cities, in this case they were able to act on the information.
