Chilliwack Search and Rescue has four new members with specialized training in avalanche response.
As one of the busiest teams in the province, CSAR is continually upgrading its skills and training in order to monitor a coverage area of about 1100 square kilometres.
“This weekend Chilliwack Search and Rescue sent four members alongside other team members on a multi-day avalanche course in the back country of Mt. Seymour,” according to a Facebook post on Feb. 24.
“The weather was good, bad, and ugly all at the same time.”
During the training course, “small slides were triggered, skills were tested” and as a result, and the team now has four ‘Organized Avalanche Response’ team members.
