Four taken to hospital after crash on Nanaimo’s Terminal Avenue

Incident happened at intersection of Terminal, Princess Royal and St. George on Monday, July 26

Four patients were taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash near Nanaimo’s Terminal Park Mall this afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Terminal Avenue, Princess Royal Avenue and St. George Street at about noon Monday, July 26 after a sports-utility vehicle and a hatchback collided in the intersection.

Firefighters had to cut a passenger-side door off the hatchback to extricate one of the occupants from the vehicle.

Crews said all four occupants of the two vehicles were transported to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with unknown injuries.

Nanaimo RCMP was on scene investigating. A witness said one of the drivers ran a red light.

According to ICBC data, there were 10 crashes at that intersection in 2020 and 48 in the five-year period from 2015-2020.
