Four-way race declared for Victoria mayor

The window has now closed for filing nomination papers to enter the civic election race.

The window has now closed for filing nomination papers to enter the civic election race.

Surprise candidate David Shebib, who lives in Saanich, joins Paul Brown and Steve Filipovic in the campaign to unseat Victoria mayor Dean Fortin.

In addition, there are 20 candidates competing for eight seats on council.

All of Victoria’ city councillors are campaigning to keep their spot. They are: Geoff Young, Charlayne Thornton-Joe, Pam Madoff, John Luton, Philippe Lucas, Lynn Hunter, Christopher M. Coleman, and Marianne Alto.

The 12 challengers are: Jon Valentine, John C. Turner, Sean Murray, Robin Kimpton, Ben Isitt, Rose Henry, Lisa Helps, Shellie Gudgeon, Saul Andersen and three candidates belonging to the Open Victoria slate: Linda McGrew, Sukhi Lalli and Aaron Hall.
