Fraser Valley school principal allegedly on Creep Catchers video

A new video from the controversial group Creep Catchers may involve a Fraser Valley school principal.

The video, which was taken Oct. 14 at the food court in the Sevenoaks Shopping Centre in Abbotsford, shows a man – who identified himself as “James,” a 33-year-old biologist – allegedly waiting to meet up with a teenage girl.

Creep Catchers has people pose as teenagers online in an attempt to lure possible sex offenders into the public, then videotapes them and asks why they want to meet with underage children.

When the video was posted to the group’s website, visitors on Facebook began to identify the suspect as an elementary school principal from the Fraser Valley.

Police and school officials are now investigating.

A public education administrator said, “The school district is aware of the video. We are in the middle of conducting an investigation. As it is a personnel matter, we have to observe the protection of privacy act and cannot make further comment on the investigation at this time. If and when that changes, we will make further information and statement to the public and our stakeholder groups.”

The administrator also said the employee is not at work and all relevant authorities have been informed.

Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald has confirmed that the APD is investigating the incident. No further details have been released.

While many Facebook users have identified the person in question by name, it is Black Press policy not to identify an individual unless formal charges are filed by police or official disciplinary action is taken.
