The Victoria Regional Transit Commission (VRTC) and the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) are rolling out free transit passes to new refugee families in the capital region.

Last December, the VRTC voted to supply refugees (regardless of country of origin) a year’s worth of free transit from the time of their arrival in Victoria. The program is funded by the VRTC, and administered by B.C. Transit and the ICA.

To enrol in the free transit program, newcomers with refugee background who have arrived or will be arriving between Dec.1, 2015 to Dec. 31, 2016 need to go to the ICA for an intake session.

The ICA is a non-profit society and a federally registered charity, contracted by the federal government to provide settlement services to newly arriving immigrants and refugees.
