100 Mile House may be getting a Front Counter BC service at the current Access Centre office.
Cariboo Regional District (CRD) chair Al Richmond says the plan appears as being driven by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations (MFLNRO).
Gerry McDougal, MFLNRO regional executive director – Cariboo region, recently presented information to the CRD board that included a potential for this expanded service.
“[McDougal talked about] his plans to make more essential information available at Front Counter BC, and to look at putting a Front Counter BC operation in 100 Mile, so there’s someone you can go to and they will deal with all the various ministries.”
Richmond says McDougal also explained how the ministry was created by former premier Gordon Campbell to consolidate what they casually call the “dirt” ministries.
“Hopefully, it will make it easier for you when you need a permit to do something,” the CRD chair notes.
“You won’t run up against this ministry and that ministry. It will be within the operations of the MFLNRO, and they’ll know each piece you have to get.”
It isn’t clear how the expanded service will be set up, but Richmond adds he is hopeful it will streamline the whole process of dealing with ministries from 100 Mile.
