Notices are being mailed out to Cranbrook property owners who will be affected by a frontage tax levy used to help improve municipal water and sewer systems. “Frontage” is based on a property fronting on a street that contains a sewer main or water main.
The City of Cranbrook announced this week that the improvements have been completed, and are to be supported in part by a frontage tax levy imposed under the following bylaws:
A. Water Front Tax Amendment Bylaw 3675 2009;
B. Sewer Frontage Tax Bylaw Tax Amendment Bylaw No. 3736 2011.
“Notices were mailed out the week of March 27, 2017, to each property owner where a change in frontage has occurred, a release from the City read. “These notices will state the actual and taxable frontage for the property and the frontage tax rates for 2017.”
For those wishing to take issue with the changes, the Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel will be held at City Hall on Monday, April 24, for the purposes of hearing complaints to the names of owners of parcels of land, the actual frontage of parcels of land, and the taxable frontage of parcels of land.
The panel will be held in Council Chambers, at 3 p.m.
A complaint will not be heard unless notice of the complaint has been made in writing to the office of the Collector prior to 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 21.
