Thousands of enthusiastic people lined the streets of Parksville on Monday to celebrate Canada Day with a colourful parade under sunny skies and near-record-high temperatures.

There were more than 150 entries in the parade and spectators were staking out their places with lawn chairs as early as 8 a.m for the parade that started just after 10 a.m. and lasted about 90 minutes. When the parade started, the sign at Community Park registered a sultry 27 degrees C.

This parade had everything a great parade should — marchers, bands, candy, clowns, cool vehicles, floats, horses.

Many of the parade-goers then slid into Community Park for an afternoon and evening organized by the Rotary Club. For more photos from the parade, see our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/PQBNews.
