A GoFundMe page for a Terrace woman medevaced to Vancouver General Hospital following a spinal injury has raised almost $6,000 dollars a day after the account was set up on July 5.
Becky Buck was transported to Vancouver Hospital on the night of July 3 for surgery on the C6 and C7 portions of her cervical spine, according to the GoFundMe page created by her daughter Ashleigh Klimek.
Describing the extent of the injury, Klimek wrote that during the surgery the surgeons had to “go in through both the front and back of Buck’s neck to put the vertebrae back in place.”
The money is being raised to ease the financial burden of medical bills and to support family so they can be in Vancouver with Buck.
The doctors were expecting Buck to be up and walking on July 5 but based on an update from Klimek of the GoFundMe page, the mother was not able to get up and walk due to severe pain.
“The medical team there are doing everything they can to find the right medication combination to help relieve it enough so she is able to be more mobile,” wrote Klimek on the fundraising page.
Local businesses are also raising money to help Buck. Redneck Kitchen Food Truck is donating sale proceeds today.
Terrace RCMP said that a woman was transported to hospital via BC Ambulance with serious injuries on July 3.
