The new tourist information kiosk at the Mesachie Lake Skydome area is benefiting from a $15,000 grant which the CVRD applied for through the Union of BC Municipalities.

The intention is to point tourists using the Pacific Marine Circle Route in the right direction – toward the Cowichan Lake area communities.

“It costs far more than the $15,000 to build,” Morrison said.

Thanks to donated work, the project’s cost has only been $20,000. The remaining $5,000 was provided through business donors, and the Area F Parks budget.

Humphrey said that the new signage will be installed at the Mesachie Lake spot as soon as the 2011 chamber memberships are in.
