Fusing mind and body

Deep breath in, deep breath out. A practice we’re always doing but are hardly ever thinking about.

Deep breath in, deep breath out. A practice we’re always doing but are hardly ever thinking about.

When Dale Trenholm was a top notch hockey goalie he began to think about deep breathing. He would take a deep breath before pucks were launched through the air toward him.

Trenholm says, “deep breathing is a powerful tool to keep [people] relaxed and focused.”

Currently, Trenholm is building a yoga studio on his property on the Holmaco Reserve. Trenholm believes he can guide people through deep breathing. “I’m not the teacher, everyone is their own teacher through experiences. I can guide [people] through the experience.”

When the Mind Body Fusion Yoga studio opens up sometime in the early New Year there will be a variety of classes offered. There will be Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yin Fusion, and Rip It up Fitness. Mind Body Fusion Yoga will fuse together mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical health. Trenholm’s overall goal for the studio is to create, “a safe place for [people] to escape, relax, and feel good.”

The location has the perfect balance of feeling secluded while still being close to town. There are tall green trees that surround the property, and the soft sound of trickling water from a nearby stream. Creating ultimate relaxation. Eventually, as the landscape effort progresses there will be a short trail leading from the studio to the stream where people can come and take a few deep breaths before their class begins.

Trenholm first got his vision for the studio about two years ago, but says, “[his] whole life has lead and prepared [him] for this.”

He is receiving plenty of support from family and friends, even getting an extra hand from time to time. For the most part Trenholm has been making the studio all on his own, with no previous construction experience he is “learning as [he] goes.”

In North America’s fast-paced lifestyle, more and more people are finding new ways to keep relaxed and balanced. Yoga is a great technique to refresh and stay calm. Mind Body Fusion yoga will bring together all aspects of health and will be a welcoming place for both beginners and those who are more experienced.
