The demolition of Mountain View Elementary is mostly complete, with only the original heritage building still standing.

Demolition began in earnest in early November and by Monday, Nov. 17, crews from Clearview Grinding finished demolition of all the additions to the original school. All that’s left is a big debris pile, which will be sorted and recycled.

The demolition is being done as the Revelstoke School District prepares to sell the Mountain View Elementary site. The district is seeking heritage designation for the original school, while the rest of the property will likely be sub-divided into lots for single-family residential homes.
