An excavator ruptured a gas line on Houston Street in Nelson’s Uphill neighbourhood Tuesday afternoon.
Nelson Fire and Rescue says after Fortis crews arrived, some of the homes were evacuated with the help of the police department and power was shut off.
Fortis completed repairs and power was turned back on.
In all, seven firefighters responded to the incident with two fire engines, and two utility vehicles. No injuries were reported.
Nelson Fire and Rescue asks you to make sure that you call BC One Call before you dig, and call 911 if you smell gas.
