The Kicking Horse Country Chamber of Commerce Community Excellence Awards are getting closer, and the events committee has decided that the theme is going to be an old fashioned Kicking Horse Barn Dance.
“I am super excited about the Gala event this year… So polish up those dance shoes, dust off your square dance skirts and be ready to party at the 2012 Community Excellence Awards,” said Ruth Hamilton, manager of the Chamber.
Tickets to the Barn Dance on October 20 include a full dinner with lots of local talent, including Willhorse playing live.
Voting for the awards has already began. Nomination forms can be found online at www.goldenchamber.bc.ca, or on the KHCCC Facebook page.
“Often we take for granted the little things of everyday life. This is a chance for the community to say thank you and I appreciate all you do,” said Hamilton.
“Whether it is to your boss, ‘Great Place to Work Award,’ to the electrician who went out of their way to keep you warm last winter, ‘Trade Excellence Award,’ or to the business that always sponsors the team, ‘Spirit of Good Business Award.’”
Don’t forget that the Chamber has added a new component this year. There will also be several Golden Nuggets, mini awards that allow you to recognize those every day community treasures.

“The awards are about celebrating all the good things about our community, the pride we take in our buildings, the people who volunteer their time and those who make Golden stand out as a great place to live and work,” said Hamilton.
The awards, however, are only a small portion of the evening.
“The Kicking Horse Barn Dance is a celebration of excellence for the community, and everyone is welcome to attend,” said Hamilton.
The 8th annual awards are on Saturday Oct. 20 at the Rec Plex.
