A 16-year-old girl suffered injuries after a hit and run.

Jan. 11 the 16-year-old Quesnel resident was crossing the intersection of Carson Avenue and Front Street when she was struck by a southbound vehicle.

The vehicle then departed the scene proceeding eastbound on Carson Avenue.

The 16 year old female walked away from the collision but suffered whiplash, a concussion, swelling and lacerations to the head. 

The collision was captured

by nearby video surveillance footage.

This footage illustrates the presence of other vehicles and potential witnesses to this crash. Neither the injured pedestrian or the driver of the vehicle remained on scene. 

The vehicle involved in the collision is described as a lighter coloured four door sport utility style vehicle operated by an

older Caucasian male wearing glasses.

Police want to speak with the driver of this vehicle and anyone who may have witnessed this collision. 

Police are urging the driver of the vehicle and anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call Quesnel RCMP at 250-992-9211. 

Theft, assault

Last Thursday a teenage male was robbed of his phone and a recently purchased gift for his girlfriend.

Jan. 13 the 16-year-old victim had been walking home from Walmart after purchasing a silver necklace as a gift.

He got to the East end of Lombardie Drive off Mountain Ash Road when he passed the suspect, also on foot.

The victim had been looking down at his cell phone when the suspect came up from behind and without warning punched the victim in the face and

then multiple times in the abdomen, knocking the victim to the ground.

The suspect was described as a First Nations male in his 30s with hair down to his shoulders.

He was wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans and winter boots.
