A crowd of more than 5000 enjoyed top notch soccer action under sunny skies at UVic’s Centennial Stadium as the local Victoria Highlanders faced off against the legendary Glasgow Rangers in a friendly match Monday evening. The game opened with some theatrics as the game ball was delivered to centre field by skydivers who, on the way down, had to avoid ospreys concerned about their nests in the stadium light stands.
All the scoring action was confined to the first half with Rangers emerging as winners with a score of 2-1.
The Highlanders hope to present a similar event next year.
