Golden says farewell to Fire Chief Ken McClure

Golden paid respects to one of its true heroes on Friday afternoon at a service for its late Fire Chief.

Golden said goodbye to one of its true heroes on Friday afternoon at a service for Fire Chief Ken McClure. Friends, family, colleagues and firefighters from across the province paid their respects to the late Chief.

McClure became Golden’s Fire Chief in March of 2011. In those three and a half years, McClure had a profound impact on the town, and was instrumental in adding road rescue services to the department. Recently, McClure secured $500,000 in provincial grant money in order to purchase a new road rescue vehicle. The vehicle is due to arrive in December.

At the service, Town CAO Jon Wilsgard praised McClure for his dedication to the department and for the legacy he has left behind.
