A fundraiser for Vernon Jubilee Hospital was a major success.

The second annual Community Golf Day at the Vernon Golf and Country Club raised more than $20,000 for VJH Sunday.

“Donations are still being calculated,” said Bruce Shepherd, with the Kalamalka Rotary Club, which hosted the event.

More than 160 golfers participated in the event, and they played for prizes worth $10,000.

“The sponsors were very generous,” said Rotarian Darryl O’Brian.

“From the putting contest to the golf cart sponsorship to the hole-in-one prizes, the business community was extremely generous and we thank them for that.

“Vernon Golf and Country Club donated the golf course both days, a value of $15,000 daily, and we certainly want to acknowledge their generous support. In addition, dozens of volunteers from the golf club as well as Kalamalka Rotary ensured that the two days ran smoothly.”

The funds will go to the maternal child department at the hospital.

“We’re thrilled to be the beneficiaries of this fundraising event,” said Sue Beaudry, VJH Foundation director of development.

“We also want to thank the golf club, its members and the members of Kalamalka Rotary for their hard work putting together this golf tournament.”
